YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
-
Provide daily quality instruction in a specific, specialized area (Relevant Experience Required)
-
Daily positive engagement that fosters a safe & secure environment where scholars thrive
INSTRUCTION & FACILITATION
-
Work in conjunction with Program Team to ensure the smooth delivery of courses & activities (12-18 scholars per course)
-
Prepare supplies, materials, and other items needed before the program begins
-
Cultivate inviting, safe, orderly environments where scholars are comfortable to share, create, & shine
-
Maintain professional & positive relationships with school staff, partners, scholars, and parents
-
Work with other Program Leaders to develop engaging content for student learning opportunities
SUPERVISION
-
Always supervise scholars
-
Commitment to attending work daily
-
Report to Site Coordinator, Assistant Site Coordinator & Director of Curriculum & Instruction
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION
-
Develop lesson & unit plans & activities with scholar interests, and required curricula, with accurate implementation
-
Attend professional development training and meetings
-
Assist in planning end-of-session showcases and culminating events
DATA MANAGEMENT
-
Track and monitor daily attendance
-
Maintain accurate scholar data as requested, ensuring on-time submission
🌟LOCATION(s)
Various throughout Newark. Sites include charter and public school sites.
🌟SCHEDULE:
SPRING & FALL PART-TIME WORK HOURS:
Monday-Friday 2:30–6 PM (NPS sites)
Monday-Friday 3–6 PM (Charter sites)
Monday-Thursday 2:30-6 PM; Friday 11:30–6 PM (Charter site 2)
SUMMER PART-TIME WORK HOURS:
Monday-Friday 11:30–3 PM (NPS sites)
Monday-Friday 11:30–6 PM (All sites, SELECT STAFF ONLY)
Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM-3 PM (Charter site 2)
🌟PAY & Benefits
$18-$20/hour (commensurate with COMBINED childcare & special enrichment skill experience) NO TEACHER PAY MATCH TO CERTIFIED TEACHERS

🌟QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
-
Eligible to work in the US with children; clear fingerprinting, background, and Tuberculosis checks'
-
Some undergraduate or technical-career study
-
Love working with children with a passion for mentoring inner-city youth
-
Expertise and/or experience in a teachable skill
-
Ability to work cooperatively & collaboratively with school district & program, parents, & community leaders
-
Effective communication demonstrating sensitivity to others & swift response to critically urgent incidents
-
Excellent organizational skills & familiarity with basic computer software programs
-
Comply with the company, site, and/or school district COVID-19 staffing protocols
-
Ability to instruct a course(s) in English
ADDITIONAL or PREFERRED:
-
1+ years of experience working in an after-school, day camp, or community youth setting
-
Have experience in instruction/facilitation in an educational setting
-
Strong classroom/group management skills preferred
-
Experience creating lesson/unit plans or multi-week curriculum preferred
-
Familiarity and experience with diverse populations and cultural competencies are strongly desired
-
Familiarity with youth development principles for elementary & middle school-aged youth preferred
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE :
Familiarity with and passion for working with inner-city youth, in addition to one year or more of non-profit, teaching, or related youth development program experience, and expertise in one or more of (but not limited to) the following areas:
